Boomers Leading Change in Health

Why Boomers, why now?Why Boomers, why now?

Did you know that Baby Boomers represent the largest single generation in American history? Born between 1946 and 1964, there are currently an estimated 78 million Baby Boomers in America.  In fact, every 8 seconds another Baby Boomer turns 60! More than one-third of the Metro Denver population is comprised of Baby Boomers. Statistically-speaking, that makes Denver the "Boomer Capitol" of the United States.

At virtually every stage of our lives, we have redefined aspects of culture and society: music, dance, sexual mores, civil rights, women’s rights, gay rights, the workplace—the list goes on and on.  As the eldest Baby Boomers turn 65 beginning in January 2011, we will once again redefine what concepts such as retirement and aging look like—for ourselves and for our families.

Just as we have throughout our lives, our generation will challenge our community’s institutions to remove barriers, change perceptions, and adapt to the changing reality of aging.
